By the measure of a direct comparison between corporate Australia and corporate America the Americans present as being more innovative and lateral in their thinking. Sometimes the truth is harsh. Maybe Australia needs to do more, to be more, than merely fulfilling the roll of lifestyle services provider and resources and commodities reserve. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if within a generation corporate Australia could produce a single new big business that was conceived and developed entirely within the 21st century?
I am sure that corporate America will do precisely this: produce a new top-ten company by 2035 that we haven’t heard of yet. We Australians should be aspiring to do the same. Or to at least to set in place the framework to allow energy, enterprise and ambition to bubble to the surface as has been so demonstrably the case in the US.
